Decor: Much the same... which was great! It wouldn't be Danzer's without the painted wood walls, red tables, etc. Overall, much cleaner and brighter.
Service: Prompt, courteous, and attentive. What more could you ask for? Food came out quickly and drinks refilled right away, despite a bustling lunch crowd.
Food: Reuben Egg Rolls were amazing. Very large, with just the right proportions of tender corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. Served with 1000 Island for dipping. The Hamlet was perfect, just as I remember it. I didn't know how much I missed it! English Chips cooked to perfection. Super crispy and not at all greasy.
Cost: Lunch for 2 with 20% tip was $52. Not cheap, but worth every penny!
Overall: A+. Curb appeal (building, lighting, etc. ) all the same making you feel like they never closed. As you walk in you see the S.U. loud house plaque in the vestibule. Another familiar reminder of past visits. The interior is pretty much the same, just cleaner and brighter. Bottom line.. it was as if they never closed!
Will definitely be back... regularly!
Fantastic food waitress was apologetic because we waited so long for our food (understandably so) .for just opening up and extremely busy. She made sure our drinks were full and brought homemade chips while we waited.Hamlet was just as I remembered and the saurbraten was incredible..homemade egg noodles were cooked to perfection ,meat was tender and the sauce had just the right amount of tartness and sweetness with a hint of gingersnap.
The food portions are generous, which is wonderful! We paid roughly $ for an appetizer and 2 entrees, and got enough food for 4 people!
The taste was really great as well! I ordered a calzone and my wife got the sea food platter which where awesome! And the customer service was awesome too! It was 1 waitress taking care of the entire dining room and she was fantastic!
There is a lot of pizza burger and wings on the menu as well as lots of German food.
10/10 would recommend making the stop and will be back!
We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, right at 2:00pm, right when they open. Nice place, was previously strictly a German restaurant. Now they serve pizza, calzones, sandwiches, quesadillas etc. I zeroed in on the few German selections as they were renowned for their German fare years ago. I inquired about the Bavarian Sampler which is various German meats. I was informed that they had none of the meats included for this menu item. I then opted for the Sauerbraten entree, which includes either spätzle or fried egg noodles. I chose the egg noodles. Also included was hot German potato salad and red cabbage. My meal also included a garden salad which was artfully presented. Everything tasted delicious, while the potato salad had the consistency of soup. The portions were enormous, and I brought a lot of it home.
We did have to contend with a number of house flies buzzing around the table. Which I thought unusual since it is mid-October.
Our server was a delight, attentive and receptive to our questions on menu items.
The big question... would I eat there again? Yes! But I would bring a flyswatter.
Another great meal! I have been here a few times and tried sauerbraten, schnitzel and jäger schnitzel. All fantastic! The rueben egg rolls are amazing( I don’t even like corned beef usually). I have not been disappointed yet this is my 4th time here.
This was the second time I went to Danzers for a sauerbraten dinner since the new owners opened. The red cabbage was definitely better actually it was perfect don't change a thing on that! The sauerbraten was not sour enough, most of the meat was tender, a few pieces could have been more tender. The gravy was a perfect consistency, it and the meat, just need more sour. I would say follow the recipes that the original danzer owners left you 😊 I was not a fan of the German potato salad, the flavor was ok but the whole potato's do not work, they were too hard and hard to eat, should be sliced🤷🏼 I never received the garlic knots or the side salad. The entree came out, I didn't bother saying anything because at that point it was too late, I didn't get charged so it was fine...I haven't given up, I will try again because I love it so much and 🤞it will be better.
It was Father's day and we went out for an early dinner. There was parking all around the restaurant.
We sat down right away. Alicia was our server and she was very friendly and pleasant.
I ordered the chicken cordon bleu, it was fantastic. I knew it was going to be a wait for that so I ordered the fried Reuben to start. The Reuben was really good as well.
My bride ordered they jagerschnitzel, she enjoyed it.
There is a bar, Lotto game tv going on. The place looks clean but lacks ambiance of any sort. There is an ATM right next matre'd stand.
It's been years since a trip to Danzers but was pleasantly surprised. Not much from the old German menu, but I had Sauerbraten that comes with a house salad and 2 sides of red cabbage and German potato salad. Pretty darn good. I also tried their pizza, a slice of meat and pepperoni which was excellent, similar to an old Italian restaurant back home. Destiny was our waitress, attentive and very polite. My daughter had Calzone, she said it was "banging" custom made to order. We'll be back next trip to Syracuse.
We met old friends from high school. We had wings, which were very good. Plus, a roast beef sandwich. Nice place to eat 😋
We are extremely happy to see this restaurant restored to its former glory. Just before they closed a few years ago the restaurant had really slid. The new owner has done a wonderful job restoring the exterior and interior of the restaurant. She has also done a amazing job of restoring the menu as well. The Rubens and hamlets are just as good if not better than they used to be. The potato pancakes, wings, and french onion soup are just as delicious as I remember them before the restaurant begin to deteriorate. We do miss our combination platter appetizer, but other than that this restaurant is better than before in my humble opinion.
My wife and I had a great meal here, I got the Big Red Reuben and my wife the Schnitzel. The German Potato Salad was pretty good, I prefer my salad with a bit more of a vinegar taste but it was decent. The Reuben though was perfect, this is the best Reuben in the area. My wife loved her Schnitzel, she said it held up well compared to what she had in Germany.
Overall the new Danzer’s is great, the decor is well done and they have a good selection of German beers. We will definitely be back.
Had a really great German Sauerbraten for dinner and super friendly service. A great restaurant, definitely going back
