Love the food and the prices are awesome for the giant portions you get. The Lunch Buffet at $9.99 is an amazing deal. A must go.

My wife and I went with my father and stepmother. Estelle's used to be the Brandon neighborhood treat for Mexican but they shut down, and my folks found Vallarta's. I had been here before but the building used to be a steak and seafood place many years before. The food was good as was the conversation. It was a very typical neighborhood style Mexican Restaurant or should I say the Gringo's version of Mexican food.

I've been coming here since they first opened over 20 years ago. For the most part it's been a solid place for Mexican food and cheap drinks. Try the Burrito San Jose. Better yet, take on El Molcajete, a.k.a. The Black Bowl.

Festive but too slow. It was very busy, large families celebrating Mother’s Day or just out for a good meal. After a wait we got in and were led to a room of bright colors and wall murals. It was great. There was an exceptional Mariachi Band playing at each table and really livening things up. Kids running around, everyone having a good time.

Regarding the food, they have a large menu. I selected their Burrito Bandara and picked steak as the meat, the burrito colorfully presented with red, white and green sauce over three sections of the burrito. For what it was it was very good, but there wasn’t much more than the steak, wrapping, and sauces.

Our big complaint was the slowness of the service. It may have been an exceptionally busy day, our server stopping by a couple of times to apologize for the food taking so long. It ended up taking 40 minutes, good thing their drink cups were huge. But my patient understanding took a dive when as we were almost finished with our food our server offered to refill our drinks and disappeared with our cups for a seriously long time, long enough for us all to finish eating and wait for his return. When the cups returned, we asked for our bill. Once that arrived we pulled out our credit card and our server took off again with card and bill in hand, again for a seriously long time. I had noticed we could have just paid by the front door as we were leaving, and here we were waiting again for our server. This was not good, our festive mood slipping away as too much time passed.

Good Food - Service is iffy. I live in Northdale, so this is our main Mexican Food restaurant. We return here anytime we want Mexican food, so I like to think it is pretty decent. We're a married couple with 3 kids in elementary school. They of course like the chips and salsa that come to your table. Sometimes the chips are warm, sometimes they are not... they have never been stale. Their salsa is mild...really mild, but you can ask for hot.
I like their Chimichanga..... it's lightly fried, large and has lots of additional stuff on top. Their rice and beans are good. They are the only ones that my kids will eat. Their taco's and burritos are also good. I am not a fan of their Tamale's, they have been pretty dry and bland the last two times I have had them. Also not a fan of their enchiladas. Everything else has been good, including their Fajitas.
The servers can be hit or miss, most often the food comes out really fast, but yo may have to wave down someone for a refill on your drink. They're always friendly and quick on refilling your drink if you have to do this. Some night they have a mariachi band... not sure which ones.. but they are pretty good and it is entertaining.

In summary - if you live close to this place or will be in the neighborhood, I say give it a shot. You'll likely enjoy the food. The murals and unique chairs are beautiful. If you live a ways from this place and are looking for Mexican worth driving to... probably not your place. There are likely better Mexican food to be had in the Bay area. But for being close to my home... this will continue to be our family's Mexican restaurant that we frequent.

Carne asada. Two words that send my beloved husband in an eating frenzy. And it's well done here, in a burrito or taco. Why would anybody bother with a buffet (that well kow has way too many hands onit) When they have so many other items to choose from that are prepared fresh for you.The queso is delish and made with authentic mexican cheese, not that yellow stuff most places try to pawn off as queso. Definitely worth a repeat visit. Oh and ask for the primo margarita, it's made with better tequila of course, and lime juice instead of the mix used in the cheaper ones.

Awesome sit down Mexican.. Got guests in town, and not sure if they would like "The Taco Bus", or looking for slightly more formal mexican? Then look no further. I have eaten at all 4 Vallertas locations. 3 are in strip centers (Wesley Chapel, Carrollwood, and Temple Terrace) while 1 is a stand alone (and actually, the nicest location (west Tampa, next to Veterans 24). Since I live closest to the Carrollwood and West Tampa locations, those are the 2 that I frequent the most, but I prefer the Carrollwood location the best.

Service is hit and miss. Sometimes, I'm in and out, but other times I wonder when the waiter may come to visit me. I'm pretty patient, so i deal with it. I've come to expect it.

The food itself is awesome. I had somebody take me to Estelas, and while the taste was pretty similar, I noticed the portions were smaller.

The cheese sauce rocks. The secret to this is that they use queso chihuahua cheese, which I have not found in the markets locally (although I haven't tried a mexican market yet). The food is fresh and delicious. Out of town guests will not be disappointed. I love the Chimichanga.

Anything you order seems to fill the table ! The food is plentiful and delicious! Well worth any price! Try the shrimp cocktail, a meal by itself full of flavor and so many shrimp! The service was excellent and we went on Sunday night and they had an excellent guiter player who sang for you! I told my wife i found my new favorite restaurant in Tampa!!

While we were in the area, we decided to grab dinner and came across Vallartas Mexican Restaurant. It had great ratings, so we decided to give it a try. Upon entering, we realized that it was close to closing time, so there weren't many people around - especially since it was a Thursday night. However, the atmosphere was still great and very welcoming. Our server, Oriela, greeted us and promptly provided us with menus. After perusing the menu, we decided to order the Fish Tacos and Quesadillas Fajitas. We were soon served Salsa & Chips, which were delicious and complemented each other perfectly. Our main courses arrived shortly after - the Fish Tacos and Quesadillas Fajitas. The Fish Tacos were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of spices, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The Quesadillas Fajitas were also delicious, and we especially loved the chicken. Overall, it was a fantastic dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Vallartas Mexican Restaurant.

Very nice environment! Very Mexican. We ordered some traditional flautas and tacos, the food is good, they have traditional Mexican dishes, portions are very big and generous. I think they need to add sauces as Mexican cuisine is all about the home made salsas they cook. I would encourage vallarta to make a home made salsa that people like and remember, make 3… not spicy med spicy and spicy and let the people enjoy them. The atmosphere is great and the live music is amazing! I appreciate also the decorations very Mexican! Service is very nice and you can practice your Spanish if you are feeling brave as most of the workers speak Spanish. It’s a good place to have Mexican food and enjoy a good time with friends and family.

Overall great first time. Was really busy for a Sunday evening, had a big family being served, you can tell lots of families may come here. Atmosphere had a gentleman singing and playing acoustic guitar. Person that waited on us misheard un-sweet tea for sweet tea and asked questions about what room temperature water meant. Used to serve unweet tea myself and most folk down here prefer sweet so I understand the mistake but to avoid this practice asking/repeating back to the customer "with/without sugar" or other words less likely to be misunderstood on the rare ocassion that someone asks for unweet. No need to spend time asking the customer to articulate differently something that's more familiar to you. Room temperature may sound like a rare term compared to "water no ice." but "água al tiempo" is common enough for me to know too when I'm accommodating and serving other fellow Spanish speakers. We all learn through experience of course. 😊 Food portions are generous for smaller individuals like myself and appropriate for bigger folks that need a bit more sustenance to feel full. I typically order vegetarian and there were a few options. My plate felt huge and ended up taking some of the chimichanga leftovers with me. To go boxes are available and even a plastic bag was provided which I was surprised by, used to just carrying the box home after I've had enough. Overall great experience.

We order 2 large sides of chz and guacamole, along with salsa...we only received 1 bag of chips for all, which was disappointing. Asked for xtra pico-but we received no pico at all. Steak fajitas were a large portion but a bit flavorless-possibly forgot spices. Requested fresh jalapeños-received pickled. Queso, la ultimia, and guacamole were delicious. Beans and rice were great. Maybe just a bit more attention to detail but it was a Friday night, so it's almost understandable. I was charged for a packaging fee-sure wish they would of double checked this bag.

Haven't been in here in over 4 years. The place seemed a little dead, service was ok. The food was AMAZING! I ordered the Carne asada. It was full of flavor and it can feed two people. I also had a skinny margarita. It was very good. Will definitely be back.

I went for the lunch buffet which didnt disappoint! I like the large glasses they use so my drink isnt gone in 4 gulps. Plus my waitress was quick to bring me more drink when needed. A man with guitar was walking around playing requests... I enjoyed my lunch very much and I highly recommend eating there!
