As a family, we often go to the same restaurants wherever we eat out (which is a rare occurrence); and we wanted to go somewhere new. This is a nerve racking experience for our family, as we have some very specific eaters - and yet everyone loves what they got at Haji-Baba's. Delicious, good service, large portions (we all had small leftovers for the next day), decent prices (within ~$10 of what we normally spend for our family when we eat out), and two of my kids (14, 11) have already asked to go back next week! Glad we visited, and we'll definitely visit again.
Haji Babas is tucked into the end unit of a small strip mall. It's been there forever, and shows its age - but that's part of the charm. I found Haji Baba's many years ago when I first moved to Phoenix. I hadn't been in a while and sat there eating my falafel and thinking, "Why has it taken you so long to come back here!?" The falafel is about the best I've ever eaten, and the gyro platter was SO tasty. I'm not going to wait so long to return...and you shouldn't wait to try them.
OH, and they have a little shop in the restaurant for you to pick up some amazing spices and foodstuffs you won't find in your average grocery store.
AMAZING place.
Very popular so a little wait. Food is some of the best in the east side of the valley. Not many tables, but worth waiting. Chicken Shawarma with salad, hummus, and pita was a perfect late lunch. Save some time to browse the market too!
