Best italian food i ever had. The food is as great as any Italian Restaurant in North Carolina. Customer service is great. I love their California Pasta. Prices are reasonable for the high quality of the food. Our server Shelli was beyond great. I would highly recommend Pellegrinos to everyone. Make no mistake Pellegrinos is a cut above the rest
Best Italian restaurant in Charlotte. Both Amber and I love traditional Italian cuisine. Amber is Sicilian. I ordered the Rigatoni Sicilian which was tasty and the fresh sauteed vegetables complimented this pasta dish. Amber went for the Penne & Broccoli and said it was delicious. I like the large portions and the way the entrees were prepared. The ambience was perfect and the prices very reasonable when you consider all you get. The service was very good as well. We've tried other Italian restaurants in the Charlotte area before but found this one to be the most authentic NY style Trattoria. Definitely worth the drive.

Good Authenic Italian with some Liberties Taken. My wife has been wanting to try this restaurant for a number of years and we finally had the opportunity. Little hard to find tucked into the back of a little shopping center and a very small sign which buried in a much larger cluster of signs on a busy street.
Food is quite good, portions are large and the pricing is reasonable for the qualtiy and qauntity of food you get. Atmosphere is nice and the mood is appropriate for the cusine.
The liberties taken refers to the use of none Italian ingredients such as shitaki mushrooms. Don't get me wrong. The dishes prepared this way are still excellent but with a different flair than traditional Italian.
I had the Mozarella Caprese as an antipasto. I was fairly good but the moazarella could have been fresher and I'm used to a light splash of Balsamic Vinegar to compliment the tomato and basil. Only dressing was Olive Oil and from what I could tell, it was just Olive Oil and not the higher quality Virgin or Extra Virgin grades.
My wife had the Veal with the Shitaki mushrooms in a brown sauce and she idicated that it was quite good. I had a shrimp parmagiana and while it was fairly good, the marinara could use some work.
Biggest probelem we had was the server. Service was spotty at best with long lulls between visits. When he served our meal, he tried to funny by telling my wife "here are your anchovies and mushrooms" and in my case "here is your Calamari" First reactrion was ' I didn't order that". Bottom line, when serving the food, it's a time to showcase off the efforts of the chef and the restaurant. There is a time for Comedy Central and that was not it.
In conclusion, I would return and take friends there. With a few added touches, this could move from a good restaurants to a great restaurant.
Wow!!! Unbeleivable Deep-dish. Are you kidding me!?!? Best deep dish I've ever had. The crust was crisp yet light, Very thick but not doughy at all. If you're a deep dish lover this is a MUST
Old World Tradition in a New World Setting. Being a first generation Italian American and residing in Metropolis (NYC.) I was quite astounded to find this incredible jewel nestled in Charlotte. I felt as if I was in my Aunt's dining room circa 1940. One finds classic well prepared cuisine here with the charm of a black and white film but with modern nuances, I love going to any restaurant where the proprietors genuinely work both the front and the back of the house. Once again, things one rarely finds in 2009. In NYC one would have to wait 1 1/2 hours to be seated and well worth it. I am returning for Valentine's Day to dine with my sweetheart and gaze into her eyes and enjoy the fine cuisine, Not short of a Bogart movie sans criminals. Additionally, this is the type of joint you can frequent both daily and for those special occasions. Pellegrino's isn't a homerun, it's a grand slam !

That's Italian!. I admit, I'm biased, and I'm very particular about my Pizza, but nobody in town beats Sal and John's. I've only had other dishes a few times (cause I love their pizza. Have I mentioned that yet?). The other food was good too. The veal parm with ziti could easily feed two and the cheesesteak sub was great. I've had the Ceasar salad a few times and that is okay, although they should offer you anchovies (I've never asked for them). Their pizza is excellent! My personal favorite is the sausage pizza. Disclaimer: I am not a family member or a friend -- I just like their pizza and the people have always been very nice to me and my kids. Kid friendly is an important aspect of any restaurant in my opinion.
First time eating here. Discovered this restaurant via Google maps as we were traveling down I-95. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food after locating the restaurant in a strip mall. We each had a pretty garden salad followed by our delicious lunch entrees. We were a little disappointed with the single piece of baguette that accompanied our meals. The bread was far too hard. Additionally, we were charged more for our meals than was advertised on the menu. That being said, we will happily return and dine at this restaurant when we are in the area.
We waited an hour to get a seat but I would have waited longer for this amazing food!! While waiting we watched them make pizza’s, calzone’s and Detroit pizza. I changed my mind at least 5 times on what to order. Ended up with the penne primavera. Will be telling everyone about this place! Deserves more then five stars.
I love coming here for lunch. Last two times I've come they've had some very interesting pizza concoctions made up behind the bar that have been delicious. Younger guy with long hair behind the counter is always super friendly and personable. I like the whole overall feel of the place. Feels less like a restaurant and more like you wondered into family's kitchen that wanted to feed you.
Can’t go wrong with a deep dish pizza. Also, the tiramisu my boyfriend and I got here was beyond delicious. Great service!

This is a gem of a restaurant located in town in Troutman. I have never eaten in the building, but have picked up food from Pellegrino's probably about 10 times. It's always delicious and the serving sizes are large. They have always gotten my order correct, even when extremely busy. It is priced reasonably in my opinion, given the large portions and consistently great food.
My family and I just relocated to Troutman from New Jersey and we are so grateful that Pellegrino's is in town.
The owners, Salvatore and Giovanni are genuinely really nice guys. The staff and service is top notch. The pizza is amazing and don't stop there because the entrees are as well.
I would highly recommend stopping by, you won't be disappointed.
