Shorty's Tucker

Tuesday night is trivia night and they do take their trivia seriously at Shorty's -  the tables and bar were about half full. The trivia host played some classic vinyl LPs, about a third was music unknown to me so that was a bonus! I only knew the answers to about half of the questions so that was cool too...

This time I tried one of their specialty pies - the Diana Ross ($11.99 for a "small" which was still 10 inches), with pepperoni, ground beef, black olives, mushrooms, sliced tomatoes and broccoli in red sauce. The flavor combination was wonderful and the texture divine (meaty, savory, crunchy). Matched that to a 420 and had a bit of my dining partner's Cobb salad (one of my favorites) and left with a huge smile. My only complaint was that the crust was a bit soggy (something to be expected on such a heavily loaded pie, especially with all the veggies) - I know that some of the other pizza joints I frequent know how to fix that (hotter oven, slightly thicker bottom? not sure) or I would have given up 5 stars for sure.

The service is also exceptional whenever I eat at Shorty's, lunch or dinner - the guy waiting on us the last time was practically running between several large tables. We sat right in front of the stage (occupied by the trivia guy) and it wasn't overly noisy. All-in-all a great dining experience.
