This is a very popular Brookside breakfast restaurant, I hadn't been there in quite some time and I always kind of forget the feel of the place... it's truly a diner setting , the food was decent, the service was quick, just didn't get my highest rating. I will try it again.
Absolutely fantastic. The most basic breakfast food but tasted significantly better than your average spot. I thought the service was fantastic despite all of the awful reviews. I come from a place where gratuity is almost always automatically included so I didn’t mind at all! Helps hold poor tippers accountable!
Really chill atmosphere, I enjoyed the breakfast food and ambiance of the place.
Lots of decor! And my favorite part, space and rooms to choose from. You could sit anywhere you’d like inside or outside and enjoy a great meal.
Staff is kind and patient, always appreciated. Only thing keeping me from 5 stars are the prices. Besides that or if that isn’t a factor for you, this place is great!
Great food and the service was very quick. However, dining in orders have 20% gratuity attached to every ticket. I know that getting good people in the service industry can be challenging and the pay isn't all that great. I waited tables at a high-end restaurant myself for three years. Oftentimes I got less than what I thought I was worth as far as service.
Two things discourage me about this business practice of adding a high percentage of gratuity to every ticket. The first is the most obvious: there's no incentive to offer great service. In fact, adding on any additional tip to the 20% is potentially even rewarding poor service. A lot of people aren't going to look at the bottom of the menu to see that that 20% has been added and, since there is no mention of that on the credit card receipt, but there is a blank of available for extra tipping, it's reasonable to think that most of the servers are making well into the 30 and 40% range per table for gratuity. When I was suspicious that this could happen, I asked the server to get me an itemized receipt. He told me that I would have to go up to the front to get it. Why did he not get it for me? No reason, but I didn't protest. I think it was because he inherently knew that this practice was deceitful, and he didn't want to face me afterwards. Right now, overpriced, breakfast restaurants are plentiful. The food wasn't that great to merit or return based on this business practice.
To note:
- 20% gratuity for dine-in
- parking in the back
Came here for breakfast one Saturday morning. They were fairly busy, but my friend and I were seated right away.
Got pancakes, eggs and sausage links with biscuits and gravy, and coffee.
I’m personally not particularly fond of the pancakes they served; they would soak up a lot of syrup and would fall apart rather easily. Eggs were a little oily/greasy. The biscuit and gravy was ok.
Service was great! Despite how busy it was, a waiter had my coffee refilled and the waitress who brought out our food checked in with us to make sure if we needed anything else.
Omelette, taters & pancake good. Biscuit was not fresh and skimpy on gravy. Be advised they already add a 20% gratuity. I am glad service was good or I would of challenged the tip. See my photo I will post.
This morning I went to BBD for breakfast. I was looking curiously at my plate because I had ordered sausage patties and white toast, not bacon and rye. Nonetheless, I hate food waste and wasn’t going to ask for it to be remade, so I started eating.
A customer sitting two seats down noticed my initial hesitation asked me if I was okay. I told her I was worried I had gotten someone else’s order because it was wrong. Turns out I had taken hers by accident. I had claimed hers when the food was served. We laughed about it and ended up having breakfast together. Her name is Sheila.
Anyway, BBD graciously remade our food, and through my guilt at the situation they made me feel better. I really appreciate the courtesy and compassion they showed me today.
So today I made a new friend, and was shown grace that I didn’t earn from a small business. And I left with a full belly and contented demeanor. Thank you, BBD 💕
Service & food are always pretty good but don't really appreciate the automatic 20% gratuity added to every dine-in ticket. ... Really don't like like it. Just raise your prices to cover that for the staff and let me decide if I still want to return
Great service and food. Recommend the steak and eggs. Mimosa was spot on. Sweet potato fries are delicious as well
My favorite is the breakfast burrito. The country benny. And the waffle with banana and strawberry.. A Tulsa staple, this restaurant has been here since I can remember and we love to go eat here.
