The food is first rate. The Chef is top notch and personable and the wait staff and bartenders are awesome. They all make your visit so welcoming that you want to sit and enjoy for hours. Well worth the visit any day of the week; however Sunday brunch is special.
Great "neighborhood" spot with big city taste and flavors. Handcrafted soda are amazing. Desserts never disappoint. Literally EVERYTHING we've eaten here has been incredible.
5 stars warranted if only for the food alone! The atmosphere Is fine, chill bar/pub feel, but the cocktails and food make this spot a MUST VISIT!
The poutine is worth the visit, and deviled eggs shouldn't be this delectable. Then came the breakfast burger...WHAT!!?? Perfection on a plate!
I need to split my next visits...cocktails one time, food the next. Too good to try to combine. Loved it!
Going to the bar just for drinks, I had a casual experience. The drinks were okay. Also ordered a dessert and unfortunately it tasted like chocolate pudding. The bartender was friendly and welcoming. This restaurant was a lot smaller than you would expect also.
Definitely a local treasure! I was really impressed with the food and the vibe here! It felt like it didn't draw many tourists, but people were there because "they knew". The menu was straightforward, the portions were generous, and the food was delicious, fresh and well made. They have a nice variety of beer on tap. I will definitely be returning!
This was my second time here. The food is very good. Feels very fresh and homemade. Although the service is great, we found it slow. If that's what you're prepared for for the evening, great. We didn't have anywhere to go, so it was fine but be aware. This spot is definitely part of the new DC, but I would recommend it.
Nice vibe and good food! The music selection was great...the DC vibe was appreciated (Chuck Brown ❤)! Not black-owned for those who are curious. We had shrimp and grits, salmon, vegan curry, and spicy greens. I wasn't a fan of the autumnal sangria...wish it was sweeter! I was so glad to taste a delicious vegan option. I fell in love with the the vegan curry...it had a great kick and was very tasty. I was worried that it wouldn't be good because of the squash but it was well seasoned and mesh of seasonal vegetables. They definitely offer good comfort food options. My dining partner said the grits were too cheesy but I overall enjoyed the food. We sat at the bar but there was plenty of seating available. Not overly crowded but decent crowd.
A great neighborhood restaurant for good hearty meals. Sunday evening so not too busy. Good friendly service and a nice variety on the menu including a vegan entry. Have been here a couple of times and will definitely return
Consistently delicious for years and years. Comfort food with flavorful seasoning. They have menu items for kids, vegetarians, and really any picky eater! Brookland’s finest is such a yummy place to meet friends in the neighborhood.
Dined here with my coworkers and we left stuffed. This is a hidden gem in the NE area. Loved the rustic home vibe here. All you get here are innovative flavors with some wholesome comfort food. My coworkers and I ordered the lamb shank, salmon kale salad, colonel burger, deviled eggs, soup of the day- squash/ apple soup,
The lamb shank fell off the bone. The mashed potatoes and mashed potatoes were no joke. The salmon was delicious and grilled perfectly. The onion rings that came with the burger were huge. As big as the bun. If you're a fan of onion rings this is a must order.
My coworkers were very pleased with our service and food. Lunch portions are generous and I think we all took something home. If your in the area looking for some delicious comfort food this is the spot!
Went on a Sunday for brunch, got a seat easy enough and the staff were helpful and attentive. The breakfast sandwich made of french toast was great as was the breakfast side salad. Worth a visit.
This is a nice spot, with good food and drink and outdoor/open air seating. I enjoyed my fried green tomato and grilled tofu sandwich. Happy hour prices are great, too.
It’s a relatively small establishment and they have a 75 minute table time max so our experience felt pretty rushed. The bill was placed on our table right after we got a drink after our meal.
We went on a Monday night and there were definitely open seats in the House, so it felt a little odd to me. Just something to note if you’re going with someone you’d like to be able to talk with.
