Massive Italian sub and gobs of chips. The cranberry orange gelato was delicious. The quantity of food for the price is ok.

The wonderful Chef's Special is gone. Salad, pizza, sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers are available. More changes to come. There's a 10 percent senior discount.

A wonderful place to eat inside. The best value is a salad with a flat rate of $13.25, you can choose your own toppings. The pickled onions like weird but are delicious!

This was a fantastic place to sit and rest my aching dogs (feet) in a quiet and aesthetic with nice and simple treats and drinks available for refreshment. If you need to catch up and sit for a little while this is one of the very best places to do so, along with the rooftop Cafe and the more modern section of the national gallery. Of course, you should be prepared to pay about 50% more than you would pay outside of these buildings because, of course, all the museums on the mall charge much more than they should for simple treats. I guess this is how they make up for the free entry fees. In the long run it's probably worth it.

The venue is underground. Nice spot to grab a quick gelato or coffee. Food did not look great otherwise. Staff at the gelato place is rude and not nice at all. Service is fast. It is perfectly located in between west and east buildings.

I had a salad and a slice of pizza...both were good and the servings were large

The gelatos are yummy with very generous portions for the price. Quite frankly massive! The staff was nice to me both times I visited. So I guess your mileage may vary? I got the blood orange and vanilla bean, and the banana dolce de leche was really good as well. Nice to chill out with a cool waterfall fountain next to you.

Cafeteria fare with a flair. The moving sculpture (Cascade) makes it remarkable! Stop here every chance I get!

This yummy and inexpensive canteen in the bowels of the National Gallery of Art is a great place for lunch. It has counters for pizza, sandwiches, salads, world food and a grill, as well of beverage stands. It’s easy to navigate your way around, and the friendly staff help you if you need it. We went there as part of a visit to the gallery, but since the gallery is (miraculously) free of charge to enter, you could easily just pop in for lunch if you are in the area.
