Very nice and unique styled Cafe setting for anyone looking something that's better than Starbucks. Interesting menu of Sandwiches as well but point tried Blueberry Lemon Scone and it was delicious and can easily satisfy two people.
When I first moved to DC in 2007, there was a shortage of good coffee shops. I am happy to report there are now multiple options in DC and BakeHouse is one of them. It's just off the main strip on U Street. The food and coffee is really good and if you order iced coffee, the ice cubes they put in are actually coffee cubes (genius!). I personally always get an iced latte and it's one of the best I've had in DC. There are only a few tables, but surprisingly, I've never had a problem finding seating. The wifi is usually pretty strong too and free. Bakehouse= solid coffee shop all around.
I had a very tasty sandwich at a decent price ~$6-7, but the desserts were painfully expensive. I didn't try the coffee. Small but a decent amount of seating, although no big tables so best not to come in a group. Does have WiFi but not sure if there is a time limit.

HOW CUTE IS BAKEHOUSE? Seriously, I can't get enough. Their clean, minimalist space with the perfect coffeehouse playlist is perfect for getting some work done for a couple hours on a weekday, & their little patio is a great space for grabbing a bite with a friend on a sunny Saturday.
I haven't tried their sandwiches yet, though I'm told they're excellent. Instead, I'm always taken in by their colorful, decadent-looking pastries - lemon Earl grey macarons? homemade Oreos? gooey caramelitas? yes, please! - & their creative latte flavors, all created with homemade syrups. I'm a big fan of the cardamom latte with soy milk, even though I confess to not really knowing what cardamom is. Smooth flavor, not-too-sweet finish, Starbucks-comparable prices.
There's not a ton of seating, so if you're looking for a place to camp out with a laptop, BakeHouse may not be the right choice for you. But if you want a quirky neighborhood cafe with a chill vibe & an unusual menu, get thee to BakeHouse, state.
Everything has been delicious. A friend in from out of town had the flourless chocolate cake, took two bites, smiled and said, 'this should make them famous.' The owners and staff are friendly and make you feel at home. Glad to have a great bakery so close to home.
Sitting still before work enjoying a #LavendarMocha. New on the menu for the #Spring, it's delicious, keeping warm and getting me ready for spring flowers. Staff is pleasant and welcoming.
Usually not super busy, so I go here instead of Wydown. The coffee is just as good and they offer a better range of pastries and food than Wydown.
Good fare served by good people. Fairly limited seating, though.
