I wasn't a fan of the Mac& Cheese or sweet potato pie but the greens, fried liver, and chicken wings were definitely good. You get your bang for your buck. Soul Kitchen is takeout only no dine-in. The prices are average. Parking not to bad. The location made it easy to find the restaurant because it was on the corner. Customer service was ok. Y'all, everything is hand made and fresh, not from cans. I seen one of the cooks cutting up some fresh green beans. I will be back because the menu looks good.
I just moved to DC. This was my 1st time visiting this place & it wasn’t disappointing. I ordered the turkey wings w/ Mac & cheese and yams. My mom ordered chicken w/collard greens & yams. I didn’t care for the mac at all, but everything else was tasty. The mac was a little to loose for my liking.
I always used Doordash to order my lunch and continue on my job to avoid the long wait. Unfortunately, I ordered for the first time since early July due to technical difficulties with the app. I put my order in as usual, came 10min later and said the order didn't come through. They could've called or text me before my arrival and that costed 15min of my lunch break including reimbursement of my order.
Update: I went to get some fish for me and my bro and it's real good! Nowadays, I just call and place my order and it's ready when I arrive!
I finally stepped in here since I wanted to taste their fried chicken I've heard about and ordered a 4-piece Wings w/ Fries. The wings are cooked fresh, they were pretty damn tasty (not greasy) 👍🏽👍🏽, and the fries were good & seasoned just right!!!#GootEats

Wow! Definitely a hidden gem! Real authentic home cooked. Big selection of sides and mains. Southern style food everything from baked chicken to Gumbo! Priced right too!!
Busy weekend IN DC, I googled this place, walking distance from my daughter's condo on same street.
Upon arrival I was undecided and then I saw " Fried Gizzards"....hooked.
They were fresh and hot out the Grease.
A dinner roll and some hot sauce and French fries it was a done deal.
Excellent food choices, service and priced right.
Wish I had found them 4 yra ago when daughter started HU

Good food, good service... A bit more pricey than your typical carryout but it's worth it. They also give nice serving sizes on the sides. The greens are bomb, but the mashed potatoes aren't that good without the gravy. I was a little disappointed they didn't have any cornbread the last time I went though.
Sometimes, I order the ribs. A few times, they were great. The last two times, the ribs were too tough. I could not chew them. I had to throw them out. If they took the time to boil the ribs just soft enough to fall off the bone, people would flock just for the ribs. That's my only complaint.
Well I was introduced to this place by a friend of mine food was not bad service was ok nice place to stop bye.
