Amazing food... salsa was great. Not spicy or water definite flavor. Steak cooked to perfection. Not dry, tuff, or burnt. Amazing plate juicy. Piña colada was refreshing. All n all great meal.
Let's just start off saying how hard it is to find a Pepe's now. We have not been to Pepe's in a while since most closed their doors. We had a taste for their food and decided to go to this location. The food was not bad, although our favorite Pepe's was on Broadway in Chicago many years ago. I had the stuff nachos, they were not bad, and my husband had the chorizo deep-fried burrito that he didn't enjoy. Our daughter had the burrito suizo, and she stated hers was not bad either. The service was outstanding. Their chips and salsa are always good. We were happy they still had a few Pepe's left, so we wanted to support their business. They still have decent food.

🤠🤗👍I can't say anything bad about Pepe's! They've been around for a long time. I was about 10 years old or so when they first opened up in Waukegan on Lewis Avenue. Their food is better than a lot of the so-called authentic, ethnically owned, Mexican restaurants. Don't let folks tell you any different, this place has good food and good drink. Many nights the owner stands by the door to greet customers, you can't go wrong. 🤔And concerning a customer's review on tacos being wrapped on a glass plate, if you get a good beef sandwich if you get a good Polish sausage if you get a good hotdog or a deli sandwich from a decent deli they are always usually wrapped. Even in Mexican restaurants many times they have paper around the tacos to keep all the accoutrements in place.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Been eating at this location for 20 years! Never a bad experience. This location always has consistently great service and food! Most of the servers here have been here for 5+ years or more, they really know what they're doing and never forget a face! Love you guys, thanks for all your hard work!!
Don't miss the birrra tacos w/homemade tortillas on the weekends from 11 to 3 -- OMG!!

I would give it a solid 4 the food and service is very good. It is on the pricey side and needs some renovations. I have been coming here for year's

Located in a strip mall but very nice decor, felt like I was in a restaurant in Mexican Riviera.

Service a little slow but it was Saturday evening and server made up for wait with warm, sweet disposition! We will return!
First time eating there and I absolutely fell in love with everything! Reminded my a fiance of back home in Texas... Authentic atmosphere, wonderful servers and awesome food!
We have been going to Pepe’s for over 20 years and have seen the changes but keep returning for the best salsa and amazing sweet and spicy Pollo en Mole, perfectly grilled fajitas and shrimp and steak tacos. The staff is always very friendly and great to see the same faces over the years. Today we did take- out which I referred to the online menu when I phoned in my order. When I picked up our order , the total seemed high so was told the prices were $1-2 more per item so that seemed unfair. No offer of a coupon to return or honoring on- line menu prices. So that was a bit disappointing. But overall- Pepe’s is our favorite Mexican food in the Gurnee-Waukegan area.
