My rating is based off of the food (and only the food). We ordered the gumbo, fried green tomatoes and gator bites. It was definitely authentic. Very good and I highly recommend based off of that. Now, to get into the specifics of everything else (which I did not factor into the rating). When our group walked into the hotel (which you have enter in order to get into the restaurant), you are overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke. The restaurant really should detach from the hotel (because we almost turned around and left). We continued into the restaurant and were immediately under the impression that this was a hangout for regulars, because the moment we walked in, we were awkwardly stared at for a few minutes. There was a live band playing, and it was very fun and festive. The crowd was made up of mostly older people (50's-90's), but the energy in there did not reflect that. Our waitress was difficult to understand and she didnt seem to know the menu, but she was clearly new, so I overlooked that. When we finished up, the owner came out and talked with us. He was a very nice gentleman and made us feel very welcome. It was definitely an experience and I would likely come back. The food alone was worth the trip.

No matter where they are located - and they have moved - this place is still an unseen gem of Williamsburg. Great southern Cajun food that's just expertly cooked and delicious. My family and I have come here every year and hunted them down after their move to the Clarion Hotel. I had the NY strip which was cooked to perfection as promised - and no one at my table left with complaints on their meals. The owners have always been personable and swing by to check in on your meal. Great new intimate decor in the new location - will continue to wish them good luck and will be back next year.

What a delight! My chicken and waffles was delish! CiCi our waitress was pleasant and provided nice service. The owners, bartender, and other staff were all attentive and made sure we were taken care of.
