Loved it! Local dive at it's best. Friendly southern staff. Good food and all day breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Love the back deck seating.
What an awesome breakfast experience! The food was great--I had the country boy benedict. The chef made a point to speak to each and every guest while I was there. It was charming and genuine. My server was attentive and efficient. I can't wait to return!
Good food but....... The stench of bacon will be on your clothing all day if you go in here for even a minute. The food is very good, the service is fantastic, but you must stay OUTSIDE and hopefully someone will notice you're there and take your ticket IN for you so you won't have stench upon you.
Wow! We are visiting from out of town and were looking for a good breakfast place. The neighborhood didn't leave us expecting much but the food left us wishing we had one within walking distance. The quiche is incredible, the home fries cooked to perfection, the mufffina to die for and the service even better. The only disappointment is how far this is from home!
Great Benedict!!!!! We will be back tomorrow.
Great food with a different spin on the standard breakfast line. Staff was very pleasant without being obtrusive.
Food is great and the atmosphere is awesome. Very quaint And very tasty food. The Strata brunch plate was delicious. Coffee is locally roasted and is awesome.
When I want to take my friends/family out for breakfast or lunch, this where I go. Jamie and his staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food is delightful and won't break the bank. I have been going here several times a week for almost a year now, and it is still my favorite! Favorite dishes: Black bean Benedict, French toast casserole, French onion dip, the B.L.E.S.T. sandwich, and the classic Bacon egg and cheese on a croissant. Fresh fruit is real fruit, and the gritts are very tasty. The coffee is damn good, and all to go items are sent in compostable containers. I love this place so much...you should check them out!
5 stars!!. Jester's is an amazing restaurant!! The food and the service is excellent...you will not be disappointed!!
No joking around, this is the spot for brunch! My son, husband and I had the strata- very good, the blueberry French toast casserole-OMG good, and the eggs Benedict over black bean cakes-fabulous! This is a must- skip the
Grits and enjoy the rest.
I went here once, years ago, when the cafe first opened. I can't remember much about the experience but I remembered it was pleasant. A few days ago me and my girlfriend decided to revisit it for her birthday breakfast and we LOVED it! I love the small, cozy atmosphere, I honestly don't know any other place like it. The location is awesome, castle street has an amazing vibe. Our waiter/host seemed to be running the front by himself and I was impressed by how attentive he was to everyone. I love the unique artwork and one of my favorite parts was the funky jazz music playing lightly as we dined. I got the French dip sandwich which I devoured!! The jous was so good and the bread was delightful. I got the black-eyed pea salad as a side and it actually blew my mind, I need that recipe!! My girlfriend got the quiche, which is one of her favorite meals, and she loved it. There was a veggie option and a meat option for the quiche, which I thought was a nice touch. The crust was buttery, crumbly and wonderful but wasn't too thick. She had the side of soup which was broccoli cheddar that day and we both found it very comforting. After the meal we just sat and talked and enjoyed the atmosphere. I was so delighted and grateful for our meal here and huge props the waiter for his exceptional service. We will definitely be coming back soon!
Wow, what a find. The cooking here is amazing. Everything is perfectly seasoned. Ice tea and coffee are both very good. Shrimp salad had just the right amount of mayonnaise and herbs, and the salad dressing is delicious. Avocado toast is also wonderful. Service is wonderful.
I like this place so much. In good weather you sit on porch and eat an always-special meal. The coffee is fresh and flavorful. The waiter is a gem. The wall art is provocative. The fruit cup was surprisingly ripe and fresh.
***Updates: went again today. We had the Cuban sandwich, smoked salmon Benedict, and mimosas. Absolutely phenomenal food and service! We were so happy to have another great experience with a staff that is clearly passionate about their craft. I can’t wait to go again soon!!! And if you have a wait for a table there is a great wine bar next door!***
What a wonderful little restaurant. After Valentine's Day, my lady and I desperately needed a savory breakfast/brunch. We found Jester's...parking was easy, the staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the food was perfect. I had the french toast casserole and the girlfriend had the lox bagel. Both dishes were phenomenal! My only critique would be that the coffee was just mediocre and they don't serve bloody Mary's. Other than those small issues, this is a must! We WILL be back for sure!!!!
Second time here. So delicious! We shared the smoked salmon Benedict and the Cuban sandwich. Both hit the spot! And, the black eyed pea salad as a side was fresh and surprisingly yummy! We capped off our brunch with Just Peachy and Poinsettia mimosas. We left with happy bellies and spirits. Highly recommend Jester’s Cafe!
Some of the best breakfast food I've ever had. The historic home gives a friendly feeling and the service only added to that. This is definitely going to become a regular stop.
I wish I could award Jester's Cafe one million stars! Our food was spectacular! I enjoyed the Galliano Shrimp Cake Benedict while my husband chowed down on the Smoked Salmon Benedict. The traditional mimosa as well as the cranberry mimosa were both refreshing and delightful. Our server was jovial, competent and knowledgeable. She engaged us in polite conversation and made us feel relaxed. Everything was perfect! A return trip to Wilmington is a must just so we can eat here again. Kudos to all who contribute to the success of Jester's Cafe!
Dining area is a little small but we were seated right away for brunch. The food was delicious. We ate every last bite! Staff was friendly and service was quick. Definitely recommend eating here for breakfast.
Wow! Just....Wow!! From service to flavor and ingenuity, it just doesn't get any better for Sunday brunch. :P
After finding out about Jester's Cafe from other reviews, my wife and I decided to give this place a shot. It also helps that Jester's is only a 5 minute drive away for us. We were promptly greeted and seated with a smile by the hostess and, soon after, introduced to our server, Jessica. Jessica excelled all around and seemed to thoroughly enjoy her job. Exceptional service!
As for the Sunday Brunch entrees, we chose the Quiche of the Day with cheesy grits and French Toast Casserole with home fries. The quiche was a crab, bacon, spinach and white cheddar cheese and blew my mind and taste buds away. This may very well be the best quiche I have ever tasted. The French Toast Casserole with home fries was so good, I couldn't classify it as a breakfast or dessert! LOL.
Overall, Jester's Cafe is a hidden gem of Wilmington and we will become regulars here for sure.
Shrimp salad is FANTASTIC very good flavor. Highly recommend the lemon dill dressing as well. Good presentation. Waitress was helpful. Quick service. Only negative was it was not particularly cool (very hot day) so felt a little stuffy while eating.
