I stumbled across this humble Thai restaurant after doing a quick yelp search to satisfy a craving for Thai food on a snowy day.
It was completely empty but the ambiance was very cozy and lovely. Service was quick and friendly, and the wait staff was attentive, always making sure to fill our water and checking in with us about the food frequently.
We ordered a few appetizers to share, including the steamed chicken gyoza, avocados rolls, and blanket shrimp, and the blanket shrimp was by far our favorite item of the entire meal. It's jumbo shrimp wrapped and presented as a crispy egg roll, served with sweet chili dipping sauce. The avocado rolls were fresh and delicious too but the gyoza was just alright.
We ordered a few entrees to share as well: shrimp pad Thai (really good), green chicken curry (good flavor), pineapple fried rice (more or less bland--wouldn't order), and a seafood medley dish (good as well).
For dessert, we had mango coconut sticky rice and it was unusually salty but beautifully presented.
I'd recommend this place for their appetizers and noodles! Service and ambiance was good too so it's worth a visit if you're in the area.
Bangkok Republic is definitely the best and most authentic Thai restaurant in Fairfield county. In addition to the consistently excellent food, the service is always top notch and welcoming. Below are some of our favorite dishes: Money Bags, Basil Shrimp & Curry Duck.
I was looking for a good Thai Place and this is it. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with Shrimp and Level 5 spicy. It was so full of flavor and then the spice comes in, simply fantastic. Beware, level 5 is not for the faint at Heart. The staff was very friendly and had a small but good selection of craft beer to choose from.
