We drive the distance. The prime rib is amazing..but our most favorite is their gizzards, which I know are most people's yuck! But let me tell you if it's something you've been wanting to try, you will not find any place that makes them better. They melt in your mouth. Our service has always been great, and the owners wife even goes around and visits with the customers. Making sure you get a good dining experience.
The food was amazing, my prime rib was cooked to perfection and the apple fritter was to die for! Our server was the owner, she was so kind and truly has a love for her business! I'm thankful to have found a steak restaurant worth going to! I will be back very soon!
Down home feel. Ordered to-go from here, and they were willing to take gift certificate/discount for this, which many restaurants won't do. Fast service. Menu available inside has more options than what's listed online. Had pulled pork sandwich, with ample amount of meat, good sweet flavor. Brisket sandwich served with onion rings, again a good amount of meat and tasty. The fries has a good batter on them.
What was best was the 'personal pie', blueberry, made to order, warm with quality crust and a little sprinkle of sugar on top. Only $4.99, would definitely go back for this. All in all, good experience and good food.
It's a bit of a drive, but worth it.. We have visited the Lone Star Ranch House a number of times since its reopening. It is actually better now than just about any time in the past. Here’s why:
On our most recent visit my wife chose to have an appetizer and chili for dinner. I had the meatloaf. Well, her eyes were bigger than her stomach. The chili came in a huge bowl with a very large side of cornbread. If we had known how much chili they would serve with a bowl that is all she would have ordered. The chili was flavorful and spicy, just as chili should be. The cornbread was exceedingly moist and slightly sweet. The cornbread is cakey in nature, so not really southern, but I’ve never liked true southern cornbread. Everything was served hot and fresh.
The appetizer she ordered with the BBQ pork nachos. Literally, a platter was brought to the table heaped with chips, BBQ pork, cheese, salsa and sour cream. It was so savory, cheesy and delicious. It is hard to explain the flavor combination of cheese and BBQ pork, but it is unique and delicious. The nachos would have easily fed 2 people a full meal, and would have been a perfect sharable for a table of 4.
Having a good idea of what the volume of food we were getting was, I limited my order to a main dish. I usually avoid meat loaf at restaurants because it is either very bland or made of the leftovers from the walk-in. The Ranch House’s meat loaf was certainly not leftovers from the walk-in. The serving of meatloaf was huge, moist and juicy and very flavorful. The mashed potatoes were just perfect and well seasoned and the vegetable on the side consisted of sautéed carrots, zucchini, and small squash in a seasoned butter. I couldn’t have been happier with my dinner.
The Ranch House is certainly not a low-cal place to eat. The menu is extensive, and leans toward heavier fare, including steaks, some seafood. Lighter eaters can find a number of items on the menu, such as dinner sized salads that would make for a filling and lower calorie meal. Prices are competitive, especially for the quantity of food you get.
The staff has always been friendly and food is served quickly and always fresh and hot. The atmosphere is “country”. The interior of the restaurant is just a large open room with typical antique farm equipment and accessories mounted on the walls. The interior would be best described as rustic.
By the way, the Ranch House is known for its breakfasts.
If you are in the mood for a filling and hearty meal, you can’t go wrong with the ranch house. It is well worth the drive into West Valley.
So happy the Ranch House is back!. My husband and I just had the pleasure of trying out the re-opened Lone Star Ranch House - we had really missed it since it closed about 2 years ago. It was great! The food is better than ever, the service prompt and friendly. You can get a hearty breakfast, and lunch/dinner feature good old-fashioned comfort foods, barbeque, or you can go "healthy" with the salad options. This will once again be our "go to" place for a tasty meal at a reasonable price, close to home in the West Valley, when we are too tired after a long day at work or just don't want to bother with cooking, and don't want to travel downtown (20-30 minutes each way).
We finally got to go and have breakfast and it was Fantastic with great service. Staff are awesome. Will definitely go back for more and will take friends to share the great food.
The best gizzards also.
The food here is sooo delicious! Family friendly environment. Food is fresh! Decent prices too! If I were to eat out in yakima this is the place to go!
The service is great, family owned, friendly, decorated beautifully with cozy cabin feel. The Chicken Alfredo (pictured) is 10/10!
Best prime rib I have had! The family and I went on Thanksgiving to break from cooking this year. Our reservation was right on time. The food was awesome. The service is awesome. And just the overall warm, inviting, comfortable feel reflected at The Lone Star made for a fantastic experience. The location comes across as a bit of a drive for this area but is not at all. Just a few minutes. Highly recommend visiting The Lone Star Ranch House.
The steak was so juicy and good, some of the best steak I've tried also the spaghettihad so much flavor 5 out 5

Food was GR8. The owner Shawn was on top of thing. Made tasty drinks. Thanks Shawn for a GR8 meal!!!!
It was celebration dinner for my daughter. She needed to have a great day for her Birthday and she did. We all enjoyed our meals, four had steaks and one had chicken fried steak breakfast plate. Great service, wonderful evening.
